MYD Golf to Manage Sky Valley Golf Club

July 15, 2009

July 15, 2010 Sky Valley, GA- MYD Golf, LLC has been contracted to manage Sky Valley Golf Club. Set amidst the gorgeous Blue Ridge Mountains on the Georgia/North Carolina state line, Sky Valley Golf Club is just 20 minutes away from Highlands, North Carolina and 15 minutes from Clayton, GA. The golf course, recently renovated in 2007 by Bill Bergin, will be a pleasant surprise to many people who have not played it in a few years. The course is in impeccable shape, featuring bent grass fairways, tees and greens. It is a viable option for golfers spending a weekend in the mountains and a very fair test of golf. Sky Valley Golf Club is currently operating as a public course and will remain a public course although there is a membership option. With it’s convenient location just 90 minutes from Atlanta and Athens, GA, Sky Valley Golf Club hopes to become a close destination for tournaments and weekend golf trips. The golf course, located at 3300’ elevation, remains pleasantly cooler than the surrounding areas. It is well worth the short drive to enjoy the fresh mountain breeze accompanied with a great golf course. MYD Golf started as a golf design company that has ventured into management of courses as well over the last few years. The company, founded by Mike Young in 1986, brings a unique view and effective plan to golf course management. Young says, “While golf architects may not be well versed in fine dining and large clubhouse issues, there are many projects out there that can benefit from the experience an architect has inherited over years of designing and building projects that had to stand on their own.  And that is the customer we are trying to help.   Today is a different day for all facets of the golf business and one must be able to adapt.  We bring a different thought process to the operating of many facilities." Mike Young has designed and developed over 40 golf courses, both in the US and internationally. He has also owned and operated several courses. The company fully understands the business of golf and tailors a unique plan for each managed facility. MYD Golf provides in depth hands on consulting and management in order to ensure success in each project.

"For architect Mike Young, a veteran of the Georgia golf scene and also busy in Central America, this could be his much-deserved breakthrough course. Long Shadow combines two styles, with a front nine through wooded riverfront land and a back nine that is discernibly more open and heathlands in style, with a bolder, more scattered approach to bunkering. Unity in the composition comes by virtue of the rough-hewn fescues and native grasses that frame the holes. "
